Wheel Weight Info

Lead Free States
Several states have already enacted laws that prohibit traditional lead wheel weights. The states of Washington, Maine and Vermont all have laws that prohibit the sale, use and installation of lead wheel weights over the next 18 months. California is also following this lead as the result of a legal action prohibiting lead wheel weights by the end of this year, with pending legislation enforcing this prohibition. The state of Maryland as well has introduced a similar bill.

In addition to state regulations, new car companies are finalizing the transition to non-lead wheel weights. Most new cars produced around the world now are equipped with non-lead wheel weights. Japan and Europe were the first to begin this change, and North America is quickly catching up.
